PALILULA IN EARTH HOUR

Dear residents of Palilula, citizens of Nis, we invite you to actively participate this weekend in celebration of global action “Earth hour”! “Earth hour” is international initiative created 2007th in Australia – Sidney. Start was successful and in coming  years, an increasing number of interested joined the program. Last 2010th year to the campaign jointed 128 countries with over 4.500 cities that stayed in dark to show support for the preservation of the planet. In Serbia, this action supported 40 cities and municipalities including and City Municipality of Palilula with organizations of civil society and media EKOpolis network. Today this action support millions of like – minded in over 6.000 cities across the globe. “Climate change is reality in which we live and which remind us constantly that we are, as part of global community, only we responsible for future of life on our planet.

Goal of this activity is that symbolic send message that everyone of us can make great things if he change daily habits and rationally dispose with resources”. City Municipality of Palilula as responsible organization of local self government in cooperation with coalition of organizations of civil society with media EKOpolis network and this year contributes to the global activity, which strives to protect environment and improving of quality of life of residents. On the web site of Palilula Municipality www.palilula.eu since March, 17th was set banner of campaign and in TV shows of EKOpolis, which are broadcast on Thursdays and Fridays on RTV Banker and via the cable network SBB, since March 17th broadcast and TV spots of campaign and short documentary form about energetic efficiency. Organizations of civil society of Palilula Municipality and eco network EKOPOLIS, will take part and in central manifestation with Green Network of City of Nis in March, 26th in location in front of People`s Theater but and by promotion of campaign in the building of Municipality Administration. Otherwise, media network EKOpolis, as one of implementers of the project “BIOgenerator – use of biomass in energetic purposes” this week organized distribution of flyer on the theme of sustianble forms of energy with call to the citizens to save energy. This is third year how NGOs in coalition with EKOpolis and City Municipality of Palilula participate in activities of global campaign “Earth hour”.

With symbolic turning off lights in the main city squares and with decorative lighting on city heritage and City of Nis will be in the sign of the campaign. In order that marking of this  action raise to a higher level and provide one additional 60 PLUS, on the Sindjelic square in front of People`s Theater, Green Network of City of Nis organized event “Sing for the planet” on which will perform: Choir of Elementary school “Stefan Nemanja”; Choir of Nis Chamber Orchestra; Band Princes and Patrons; Volunteers of Open Club. On Saturday from 08:30 pm, in front of People`s Theater and citizens of  Nis will show that there is shared vision that is our future and future of generations to come caused our present attitude toward Planet. As stated, partners on implementation of this years activity are City of Nis and Green Network; City Municipalities Palilula, Pantelej , Medijana, media EKOpolis Network, People`s Theater; NGO Space, Green Key and ZOO Planet; Procredit Bank and volunteers.
